WDCS will be attending the 19th Biennial Conference of the Society for Marine Mammalogy to be held in Tampa, Florida on November 27th through December 2nd.   During this week long gathering, marine mammal scientists from all over the world will convene for workshops, research presentations and networking.

This year’s theme is "Cumulative effects of threats to marine mammals: Challenges to animals, scientists, and managers."  As human activities in marine and aquatic environments continue to increase worldwide, the combined and cumulative effects of these activities are posing greater threats to marine mammals as individuals, populations, and species.

WDCS will be presenting data through scientific posters and presentations on responsible whale and dolphin watching, the cruel killing methods being utilized in the dolphin drive hunts in Taiji, Japan and education and outreach initiatives in Haiti and New England.

If you can attend, be sure to look for the WDCS booth and stop by.  We look forward to seeing you there!
