WDCS is horrified by news that 167 pilot whales were killed Sunday in Funningsfirdi, Faroe Islands. This bring the total number of pilot whales killed during the 2011 Grindadrap ("The Grind") to 575. No other species are reported to have been killed. WDCS and a coalition of 10 conservation and animal welfare organizations have written to the Faroese Government urging the suspension of pilot whaling citing conservation, animal welfare and public health concerns.
Some of the photo are truly horrific, check out the rest of the photos and story.
