The Dutch dolphinarium was attempting to speed up the transfer of the orca to the Loro Parque facility in Tenerife following a Dutch Ministry decision last month. New evidence presented to the court stated that four of the seven original experts initially approached by the Dolphinarium had changed their opinion and now believe that Morgan should not be sent to Loro Parque and that she should instead follow the multi-step release programme to her home waters in Northern Norway, where members of her extended family have been identified.

At the hearing yesterday, it emerged that Loro Parque was to send a number of dolphins to the Harderwijk Dolphinarium in exchange for Morgan.  Furthermore, according to news agency ANP, Harderwijk Dolphinarium has agreed to pay a hefty €100,000 to Loro Parque as the cost of taking care of her will not pay for itself.  The judge has criticised the agreement between Harderwijk and Loro Parque , going on to say that it is ‘hanging over the case like a cloud.’  In light of the complexities involved in this case, the judge has decided to postpone her decision regarding the future of Morgan until the 21st November, 2011.
