Told through the eyes of a fisherman’s daughter in a place where they kill dolphins every year, the story is a compassionate and moving account of the transformation that can occur when one is awakened to the beauty and importance of the life around us, and the resounding impact our individual choices can make.

WDCS welcomes this positive and touching approach towards finding sensitive and collaborative ways to move forward on the difficult issue of the dolphin drive hunts.  Small whales, dolphins and seals are killed by the thousands and by various methods in waters across the globe.
View the animated story here: The animated video will be available in English, Japanese and Danish.

The full story is also available as an iPod/iPad/iPhone application which you can find in App. Store "The Mermaid and the Dolphins".  The childrens book of the same name will soon be available on Amazon.EU! The book may be preordered here:

At the end of the animated video, viewers can sign a petition which will be sent to the relevant ministries and authorities in Japan and Denmark, as well as to conservation and welfare organizations the world over.

“I hope that everyone will spend some time with this beautiful video which approaches the dolphin hunts across the globe with sensitivity, compassion and understanding,” said Courtney Vail, WDCS Campaigns officer.  “The story is a testament to the difference a positive approach can make in addressing very difficult and controversial issues.”

The video and storybook are supported by organizations including: the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society (WDCS); the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) and Save Our Seal Funds.
