Each year, WDCS ventures out on research cruises from Plymouth, MA.  This year has been particularly productive with sightings of critically endangered right whales, endangered finback and humpback whales, minke whales, Atlantic white-sided dolphins, harbor porpoise, gray and harbor seals, as well as Atlantic blue fin tuna, basking sharks and giant ocean sunfish.

We have also had confirmed sightings of entangled whales and whales with scars born from vessel strikes.  Documenting these threats help us with the collective management of this population of whales and their long term protection.

It is always exciting to see "our adoptable whales" including Salt, Sirius, Pepper, Midnight, Mars, Colt, Reflection and Coral.  A particularly banner year as they have all been sighted.

Check out our most recent (July 22nd) video of Salt and her 12th calf, Zelle! And dont forget to keep checking our sightings page for more updates.
