This report revealed that the tragic death of Dawn Brancheau was a result of drowning and traumatic injuries to her spine, ribs and head, after she was pulled into the water by an adult male orca at the park called Tillikum.
 
WDCS was shocked to learn of this terrible incident. Orcas, which are very large, unpredictable and highly social hunters, are inherently unsuitable for confinement in captivity, performing tricks for the public.
