A local artist and WDCS supported is spreading WDCS's message through her art. Theresa LaBrecque, artist, educator, and good friend, is showing her collection on August 29th at Studio on Slough Road. WDCS's biologist will be in attendance for the Whales and Wonder Show taking place 3 to 8 pm.
In addition to her whale artwork, Theresa is known for her mermaids, pirates and fairies; and has published two books displaying her work. It was while developing her second book, A Whale of a Good Time, that LaBrecque found WDCS and we have been fast friends ever since. Theresa is donating 10% of the sale of A Whale of a Good Time to WDCS
and dedicated pages in the book to tell
why whales and WDCS need support. Out of these beginnings began A Whale Affair, our first WDCS fundraiser here in North America. Since that time Theresa has volunteered her time to talk to school children about the importance of the connection between art and science, and how everyone can make a difference.
We congratulate Theresa in her upcoming one-woman art show and are excited to see her newest collection of whales. The show will be full of whales and wonder. Beginning at 3pm there will be face painting and mermaids and pirates dress-up for children, then at 5pm changing to a sophisticated evening event ending at 8pm. So weather you are looking for a fun afternoon even with the kids or a great way to start off your evening - stop by The Studio on Slough Road in Brewster, Massachussetts and experience whales in a whole new way.
