Get Involved!
Follow these TIPS
It doesn’t matter who or where you are, everyone can do something to save whales and dolphins.
Tell an elected official about the issues that affect whales. Write a letter, email or phone them up - you have a voice and it matters!
Inform yourself and your friends – go to www.wdcs.org to find out more about whales
Power down - Saving energy saves whales. If you reduce your energy consumption you can reduce the amount of CO2 that acidifies the oceans and starves whales of their food.
Say Thanks - when someone, be it a friend or elected official, does the right thing.
Plan a Fundraiser
In 2008, WDCS held it's first annual fundraiser, A Whale Affair, where scientist, artist, musicians and community members all came together to raise money supporting WDCS programs. If you missed A Whale Affair this year, you can still see the fun that was had in the name of whale conservation at http://awhaleaffair.org. And you can still help raise money for whale protections by purchasing art off this site.
You too can plan a fundraiser in your community. For example, some of our younger supporters have asked in lieu of presents, that friends and family donations to WDCS. Others have ran road races or jumped out of plans for WDCS. If you would like to plan a fundraiser, we would like to help. For ideas, help and/or educational materials email: [email protected] or call 508.746.2522.
Volunteer
Volunteering is a great way to get involved and support WDCS. Our volunteers help to provide a range of roles in our office, on the boat, in schools and around Massachusetts. We have a number of opportunities available and are looking for a diverse range of people to fill various roles. Depending on your interests and skills, we can make sure that you find the right volunteering opportunity to suit you. Email [email protected]
Intern
WDCS offers a volunteer / intern program to qualified applicants throughout the year. The program provides a unique opportunity to garner experience in research, education and conservation of marine mammals. WDCS is willing to help qualified students obtain credits for the program through their college or university. The program is broken down into a minimum commitment of 3 months. There is the possibility for a volunteer to apply for a second block of up to 4 months.
These internships are on a volunteer basis. This means each volunteer is responsible for providing their own food and transportation. Living arrangements, if needed, will be provided and based in Plymouth, MA. The accommodation can hold up to 3 interns the cost being $500 per month per person. The associated fee of this program is used solely to offset the cost of housing. WDCS does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national or ethnic origin. We are accepting applications on an on-going bases.

Join WDCS by adopting a whale!
WDCS’s Whale Adoption Project highlights nine humpback whales which are part of a population that spends the summer months in the Gulf of Maine, off the coast of New England in the USA and Nova Scotia, Canada.
By adopting one whale, you can help continue the work of WDCS and help ensure a safe future for these magnificent animals. Thank you.
